GLA Swimming Gala

IMG 7559On Friday, 9 February 2013, the students of Global Leadership Academy took to the waters in their very own swimming gala. The gala served to give competitive swimmers of GLA a platform to improve their performance as well as to encourage young unexperienced swimmers to give it a try. Global Leadership Academy saw wonderful talent from star swimmers like Caro de Jager and Jessé Viljoen, who won every item that they competed in.

Nico Malan scholars were also invited to take part in the day and GLA hopes to see them again next year. Matrics piched up with lots of spirit and were very entertaining as well. Melissa Fereirra rallied her classmates to swim each event they could and to swim with ‘style’. Yes, style. Matrics competed in scooba gear and even inflatable armbands!

“It is exiting to see the leaders of the school adding fun to the day.” said Adette Bos, teacher at GLA and organiser of the gala. “Great leadership is not only about doing your best, but inviting other people to have fun with you.”
Global Leadership Academy's students were divided into the three colour teams. The Red team were the winners of the day, with great spirit as well as the best swimming times. GLA would also like to thank Nico Malan for graciously allowing them to use their swimming facilities for the gala.
