ATKV Regional Finals

ATKV Aug SmallThe third term started off with a bang for our drama students, who once again took to the stage in preparation for the ATKV-Tienertoneel competition held throughout the country. Each province hosts a regional competition where the best of each region is selected to participate in the regional final. Upon completing national rounds, ten finalists are selected to perform at Aardklop in September.

Last week Thursday saw the Global Leadership Academy students make their way to the Savoy Theatre to compete in the regional rounds along side 16 school productions. It was a privilege to hand over the reigns for the second time to student director Denzil Jacobs, under the guidance of Suiyen Smith and Hannetjie Young, who did a fine job with the cast.

After Thursday's performance the cast had secured a number of awards. Annica Erasmus received a bronze - acting; Elzette Jansen - bronze, acting; Inecke Loubser - silver, acting and Denzil Jacobs - bronze, directing; bronze - set design and a silver for his costume choices. The cast was pleased to have also been selected for the regional finals where they finished fourth overall. Inecke Loubser was also awarded a gold certificate for her performance on the evening. Well done!
