Lauren's Testimony

Lauren Dowler on the far right of this picture wrote this article. The tourism class prepared a weekend trip for a group of Americans that were visiting Jeffreys Bay, myself included. The trip was remarkable in more ways that one as we were able to drive and experience the beautiful landscape of South Africa, experience the stars of  Oudtshoorn and visit local sightseeing attractions including the Cango Wildlife Ranch, Ostrich Show Farms, and Cango Caves.

One thing however that really stood out to our entire group was the way the students that came on the trip interacted with one another... We could honestly say, as young adults who have been out of high school for a decent amount of time going on a weekend vacation with a bunch of high school students didn’t seem to be the most relaxing idea at first, although it did sound like fun. As the weekend progressed, we were quite amazed at how the students behaved.  Lauren with the GLA students and staff who travelled to Oudtshoorn

During the adventure tour at the caves, I noticed that a couple of the girls were a little bit uneasy. I watched as the other students would look after them to ensure that they got through alright and every one of them seemed to take into consideration the others well being. On the drive home, we pulled over to the side of the road for a pit stop, and my friends and I were literally amazed as we watched the students get out of the back of the Land Cruiser, and rotate seats so that every one had the opportunity to be comfortable.

Honestly, back in the US even at some youth camps it is rare to see kids treating each other this way. So, with all of this said, I really believe this is just one testimony of the way that God is working in this school. Throughout the weekend I heard students comment on how they loved going to the Global Leadership Academy, and how ever since they attended they have really experienced God in their lives. At a point in their life where they could have gone down the wrong road, they were presented with the opportunity to choose a better way.

Just wanted to encourage you all to continue in your efforts here at GLA, because the work that you are doing is really making a difference in the lives of these students who are the future leaders of this nation and world.
