GLA goes camping

adventurecampSummer, sea and fun. That was the theme for GLA ‘s recent student camp held at Van Stadens’s Resort.  While Summer holiday was the theme for the camp, it was in truth no holiday for the students! Problem solving, teamwork and ethics were tested as students were put in various teams and given different challenges to overcome.

Global Challenge Expeditions made a significant impact by sending volunteers who helped facilitate the camp.  Global Leadership Academy, Jeffreys bay’s first high school, prides itself on developing young people into leaders, while inspiring them to turn to God for guidance. It is with this goal in mind that GLA made use of assistance of the The Global Challenge teams. The importance of developing individual leadership, while bringing young people into contact with adults who boldly search for ways and places to serve God is an important part of the GLA framework.

The GLA students made friends with people who would soon be travelling the word and making a difference. “It is our hope that the students will continue to pray and encourage these adventurous men and women, while they are abroad.” says Stefan Kleyn, a teacher at Global Leadership Academy.  Students also had wonderful feedback to give on the camp.

Highlights included the waterslide, sleeping in tents and watermelon rugby.
